About Us

Delhi Chapter of ASI originated from Delhi Surgical Society in 1979 through the efforts of greats of that era namely Dr. K C Mahajan, Prof Atm Prakash, Dr. Anand Prakash, Dr T J Agarwal and Prof N C Madan. At the time of its inception Dr. T J Agarwal was its first President and Dr. N C Madan its first Secretary. These stalwarts laid the sound foundation which has stood the test of time. The chapter has organized annual conferences of the Association of Surgeons of India every decade since 1979. ASICON 1988 conference coincided with the Golden Jubilee of the ASI and was thus named Golden Jubilee ASICON. The hugely successful conference is annually commended during our annual conference in the form of Golden Jubilee Oration.

The millennium conference of ASI, the ASICON 2000 resulted in surplus resources with the state chapter. Under the visionary guidance of Dr. K C Mahajan, the Chapter set up ASICON Surgical Foundation for Surgical Education and Research. He is the founding chair of ASICON CME foundation and the person who has laid the foundation of its robust academic programme. We salute his contribution biannually holding our PG Surgical Forum Intensive Classroom sessions in his name. It is satisfying to note that the current generation of leaders are carrying forward the agenda of the visionaries and adding their own creativity on the way.

The annual ASICON -CME has been organized successfully for many years now. The past few CMEs has been organised with increasing participation and involvement of all hospitals across Delhi NCR and all over the country. The 1st Dr. K. C. The participation and overwhelming response from both residents and Faculty is proof enough of its growing popularity also among all the post graduates, surgeons in training and the surgical fraternity at large.
